StateSighter

The licence plate game, keeping score.

Spot a plate from another state, log it, and watch your map fill in. Plates are worth more the further they travelled — and you can call them out to Siri without taking your eyes off the road.

The board: a map of the United States with found states filled in, above a grid of licence plates.

Your board fills in

Every plate you claim colours in its state. One glance shows how far you have got.

Distance is the score

A plate is worth more the further it travelled. Vermont in Colorado is a rare find.

The All Time screen: a North America map and pins marking where each plate was spotted.

Every trip, remembered

Months later you can look back and see exactly where Alaska turned up.

Hands-free

The driver should not be tapping a phone.

Switch on hands-free mode before you set off and call plates out as you see them. Siri records each one, tells you your progress, and remembers where you were — all with the phone locked.

Play without touching the phone

Say "Hey Siri, add Ohio to StateSighter" and it is logged — no unlocking, no opening the app. It works through CarPlay, so the driver can play too.

Scoring that rewards the rare find

Ten points a plate, plus one for every 25 miles it travelled from home. Ohio in Ohio is worth ten. The far-from-home plate is the one worth shouting about.

51 places, or 64

Fifty states plus DC, or add the thirteen Canadian provinces and territories for a longer hunt. Each plate carries its capital, motto, bird, and a few facts.

Nothing is collected

No ads, no account, no tracking. Trips stay on your device and sync only through your own iCloud. Location is read when you claim a plate and never leaves the phone.
